No. Effortr never captures screenshots — not on a schedule, not on idle, not ever. This is a product decision, not a setting that can be toggled on. The desktop agent has no code path that talks to the screen capture APIs at all.

Three things: (1) active vs idle minutes — counted from OS-native input event counters (no content), (2) time per project / task that you start and stop, and (3) manual entries you choose to submit. That’s the whole list. No URLs, no application names, no window titles, no keystroke content, no camera, no mic.

Yes. The agent is local-first: a local SQLite queue records time entries and idle minutes while offline, and a background sync reconciles with the server when the network comes back. The tray timer keeps ticking with no network connection. We test 24-hour offline + reconnect cleanly as a release gate.

Yes — 14 days on any paid plan, no credit card required. There is also a permanent Free plan for solo users with 7-day data retention. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time.

Windows and macOS in v1. The agent is built with Tauri (Rust core + native webview), Authenticode-signed on Windows and notarized + hardened-runtime on macOS. Linux and mobile are explicitly out of scope for v1 — we’d rather ship two platforms well than four platforms badly.

The AI coach is built to help the person doing the work first. It surfaces burnout risk (low activity + long hours) and focus patterns to the individual, suggests project categories for untagged time blocks (you confirm), and answers chat questions like “where did my time go yesterday?” Managers can also ask team-level questions, but every answer is sourced from rolled-up aggregates — never a feed of raw activity.

Yes. Configurable retention (default 90 days for activity samples, 2 years for time entries — both adjustable), GDPR Article 20 portability export, a consent flow at member enrollment, and a full audit log of every monitoring policy change. Single-region (US) hosting in v1 with a documented residency roadmap for EU expansion.

Yes. Monthly plans cancel immediately and you keep access through the end of the current period. Annual plans can be cancelled with prorated credit. Your data is exported (CSV + JSON) on cancellation and hard-deleted on the retention schedule you’ve configured.
