About Effortr
Help teams measure work honestly, without surveilling the people doing it.
Our Story
Why we built Effortr
"Help teams measure work honestly, without surveilling the people doing it."
Effortr started as a reaction. The dominant time trackers in our space treat employees like suspects — screenshots every five minutes, full URL history, keystroke counts logged against application names. Teams who deploy that tooling lose trust the day it ships.
We didn't want to build that. But we still wanted real numbers — accurate hours, honest activity signal, payroll that ties out, and an AI coach that can answer "where did my time go yesterday?" without making anyone feel watched.
So we drew a hard line: no screenshots, no URL logs, no keystroke content, ever. We capture active vs idle minutes (input event counts, not what was typed), time per project, and the manual entries members choose to submit. The desktop agent is local-first — it keeps ticking offline and reconciles when it reconnects. Retention is configurable and short by default.
Effortr is built by The Leading Practice — a small team that ships software it would happily install on its own machines.
Our Values
Privacy is the product
Every feature ships with the question: would I run this on my own laptop? If the answer is no, it doesn't ship.
Local-first by default
The desktop agent works offline. The web dashboard reads from rolled-up aggregates, not raw event tables. Your data stays small and fast.
AI that coaches, not catches
The AI assistant surfaces burnout, focus patterns, and untagged time — for the person doing the work. Not a manager dashboard of gotchas.
